RPM SPORTS SIGNS LONG TERM CONTRACT FOR PONCA CITY CHAMPIONSHIP
Pell City, Al – On January 20, 2012, RPM Sports finalized a long term contract to continue championship motocross racing in Ponca City, Oklahoma, beginning this July 2012. The AMBUCS Board of Directors and members, along with Tom Burg, President of the ABC Racing Association, Mayor Homer Nicolson, Ponca City Chamber of Commerce and the Tourist Development Council all turned out to welcome RPM Sports in with open arms. “It was an amazing feeling”, said Allen McWilliams, President of RPM Sports. “The entire city is amazing and so supportive of motocross within their city”, continued McWilliams.
The Ponca City Motocross Championship will be hosted as always at Jack Blevins Park, July 21-26, 2012. The event will begin a few days earlier this year and years to follow in an effort to fulfill the request of the OEM’s, sponsors and riders to allow an easier transition for those attending the Red Bull Amateur Nationals, at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. Other notable changes taking place will include a complete re-design of the track, the addition of a 40 man gate, and a complete re-design of the start. “There will be no pre-qualifying or qualifiers run ahead of time, all qualifying will be at the track, during the week of racing”, said Alex McWilliams. “We will be using a 3 moto format, like the one being used at the 2012 AMA Thor Spring Classic, in March”, continued McWilliams. There will also be no pre parking to get into the park. Gates will be open early, during the week for all those wishing to come on in to get their favorite spot and rv hook-ups will be sold online ahead of time this year.
We have many more changes and additions to come over the years, as we grow this event. We look forward to seeing each and everyone at Ponca for 2012.
ABOUT THE AMBUCS AND ABC RACING ASSOCIATION
Since 1961, championship racing has been held at the Jack Blevins Park. With over 25,000 residences, Ponca City is overrun with history, museums, lakes, aquatic center, BMX and skateboard parks and many more attractions.
The AMBUCS is a non-profit organization that in the name of Christ, reaches out to children and others with disabilities, to create mobility and independence through AmTryke therapeutic tricycles and wheelchair ramps, and along with the leadership of the ABC Racing Association, they are able to raise funds needed to help many children and others with disabilities. The AMBUCS is 6000 members strong, with their main headquarters located in North Carolina.
